Description
Summary:Construction Project Management is continuously getting the attention of the experts and day by day the field is getting new dimensions, views and perspectives. This knowledge has increased the competition among construction companies to procure many projects which have to be managed simultaneously. The lack of knowledge of design professionals to consider the constructability aspect of the design can result in scheduling problems, delays and complicated disputes during the construction phase. The management in pre design and pre construction phase will decide the projects’ fate even before the commencement of construction phase. This study examines the procedures adopted for effective management of multiple projects performed in Design and Build (D&B) platform. The flow chart of different stages of the D&B procedure is presented with output of each stage. The important aspects in the Management of Pre design and pre construction phase are analyzed in the following sequence: a) D&B process and procedures – a practical approach, b) Organizing required components at early design stage and c) Element optimization techniques. The case study of Multiple Bridge projects in Sabah, East Malaysia is presented. Methods of determining Specialist works are also analyzed based on various critical factors influencing the implementation process.
