Microbiological analysis of fresh red Tilapia in Jeli

The results reporting the hygiene standard, total plate count (TPC), total Entorobacteriaceae count (TEC), total Staphylococcus count (TSC), detection of Escherichia coil (E.coli) and detection of staphylococcus aureus of fresh red tilapia from Jeli and Ayer Lanas are reported. A total of eight samp...

A total of eight samples were collected from Jeli (4 sampes) and Ayer Lanas (4 samples). The analysis showed that the total plate count log (CFU/g) within the range of log 4.53 to 4.08 (CFU/g). Sample G recorded the highest microbial load with log 4.53 (CFU/g). The lowest microbial load was found in sample A (Jeli) with log 4.08 (CFU/g). The highest microbial load of total staphylococcus count was in the range log 4.51±0.01 CFU/g. Among all the tested samples, samples B, C, D, F and G were identified as potential staphylococcus aureus species while sample A, E and H were confirmed as non staphylococcus aureus. The highest Enterobacteriaceae count was detected with log 3.90 ± 0.48 log (CFU/g) in sample A (Jeli) and followed by sample the lowest are 3.36±0.20 log (CFU/g). Among all the tested samples, 5 samples (A, B, D, E, F) were confirmed as a potential pathogenic E.coli species while 3 samples (C, G, H) were confirmed the non-pathogenic E.coli species. All of the' TPC, TEC and TSC were in satisfactory if compared to standard guidelines. 2015 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Nue Nazihah Zakaria (2015) Microbiological analysis of fresh red Tilapia in Jeli.
