It cannot be categorised as every other subjects taught, as it must evaluate students' proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing. However, with the pandemic, language instructors are forced to utilize online platforms to teach and assess the students. Thus, this study aims to examine the challenges of both online learning and online assessment among language instructors. A mixed method approach was employed to collect data through questionnaires, focus group interview and artifact from social media. Questionnaires using Google Form were distributed to all language instructors at the School of Languages, Civilisation and Philosophy (SLCP) in Universiti Malaysia. The sample volume was 42 (56%) and the data was analyzed with SPSS statistic version 26 and Smart PLS-SEM 3.2.8 (Ringle, Wende, & Becker, 2015). The biggest challenge for language instructors in terms of technology and assessments are the multiple applications and platforms, plagiarism, non-verbal evaluation and marking online.
