Summary:The purpose of this paper is to explain the relationship between emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills in the context of disaster management in Malaysia and to provide a conceptual framework for the future research. This paper also discusses some previous studies on emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication skills and disaster management in Malaysia that constitute the building of the conceptual framework. The main aim of the framework is to outline the relationship between emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills in Malaysian disaster management context.
