Description
Summary:The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship of the continuous improvement model on organizational sustainability and organizational culture as a moderator in the automotive manufacturing sector in Malaysia. The motivation for this study is driven by inconsistent findings from previous studies on the relationship between the independent variable and the impact of other variables on sustainability, particularly in the manufacturing industry sector. This might be due to the different variables being used. Therefore, this study rearranges the variables and also adds organizational culture as a moderator. Thus, this study integrates Systems Theory and Resource-Based View Theory to map and position possible relationships between variables in a conceptual framework. This research, which is based on quantitative methods, uses a questionnaire developed through an in-depth literature review. Survey questionnaires were randomly distributed to 175 automotive manufacturing industries in Malaysia as a sample with a response rate of 85 percent. Data collection was analysed using the PLS-SEM technique. The results of this study indicate that the direct relationship between the continuous improvement model and organizational culture is positive on organizational sustainability, thus indicating that these two variables are important elements that managers in the manufacturing industry need to consider. However, organizational culture as a moderator has failed to support the relationship between the continuous improvement model and organizational sustainability. This confirms previous studies that organizational culture is one of the dimensions in the continuous improvement model. It is hoped that the results of this study can contribute theoretically, practically, and methodologically with imperative implications to academics, policymakers, and manufacturing industry management in particular.
