Description
Summary:This study aims to identify the impact of collaborative learning in a web 2.0 environment for higher order thinking skills of students (HOTs) in the learning of science. The study was aimed to see the interest and willingness of students to participate in science learning using Web 2.0 technologies. The respondents consisted of 31 students in Form 2 at a secondary school in Kota Tinggi, Johor. The collaborative learning approach has been applied to the Power of Two, Group Investigation and Think Pair and Share. HOTs students tested using pre and post test and text discussion in Facebook. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for the mean, standard deviation and T-test. The qualitative data obtained through interviews and discussions text students on Facebook was analyzed through content analysis techniques. The results showed that the level of student HOTs increased (Mena of Pre Test= 45.45. Mean of Post Test = 70.84) T- Test Results found it to be a significant difference. Discussions on Facebook also contributed in increasing the level HOTs Knowledge of 17%, 23% level of analysis, the level rating of 9% and 6% level inventions. The results also showed interest and readiness levels are high (min4:57 to 4:64 for interest and readiness). The conclusion of this study, collaboratibe learning using web 2.0 technologies have a positive impact on the level HOTs students to science subjects. Students also expressed interest and are willing to use such approaches in their learning process. This shows that there is potential for this approach is further extended to allow students to better quality could be born.
