Summary: | This study investigates the factors influencing youths to choose insurance agent as a career among the insurance agents of ALA Berhad-Johor Bahru branch as it is crucial for the insurance company to identify the effective recruiting strategies to attract youths to join this industry. A theoretical framework was developed to indicate the relationship among the monetary, individual, event and other factors with the career decision. The objectives are to determine the existence of relationships between the independent variables and the dependent variable, to examine the significant different between the respondents’ previous working information with the career choice and to identify the most influencing variables to career choice. Correlation analysis indicated that the monetary factors is highest positively related to the dependent variables, meanwhile the difference of mean analysis demonstrated only the "I have earned more than my previous job" attribute of dependent variable has the significant different with the respondents who have 8 to 15 years working experience. The mean analysis indicated that the "potential of high earning" of monetary factor is the most influencing factor. Recommendations have been suggested to the respective branch to continue focus on youth agent recruiting by incorporated the findings of this research and for future research in other industry and wider scope area, i.e. regional or whole of Malaysia. |
