It was called "sifath al-khabariyyah" by Muslim theologians. Muslim Scholars and theologians divided into groups according to their approach to these anthropomorphic Divine attributions, some of them were literalists and anthropomorphic said nothing can be compared to God in his divinity but, in Form, He is like human beings. Others were rationalist who gave metaphoric interpretation to sacred text to assure the purity and dignity of the Islamic concept of God, they are known as Khalaf as well.
