Summary: | Some Divine attributions expressed in the holy Quran and Sunnah in
anthropomorphic and anthropopathic way that couldn't be accepted
by its literal meanings; such as God has eye, hand, leg, is moved
to anger, satisfaction, wonder: joy, laugh and other attributions
similar to human beingb. It was called "sifath al-khabariyyah" by
Muslim theologians. Muslim Scholars and theologians divided into
groups according to their approach to these anthropomorphic Divine
attributions, some of them were literalists and anthropomorphic said
nothing can be compared to God in his divinity but, in Form, He is
like human beings. Others were rationalist who gave metaphoric interpretation to sacred text to assure the purity and dignity of the
Islamic concept of God, they are known as Khalaf as well. And some
others accepted those attributions (without how/Bila kayfa) since their
true meanings are beyond our understanding/Metaphysics, they have
been called SalaJ: This article discusses the opinion of Muhyiddin Ibn
Arabi, one of the eminent Muslim scholars, and his contribution to this
