Summary:This paper presents combination of cattle manure as a co-substrate to POME for production of biogas. Through the co-digestion between cattle manure and POME, the best mixing ratio of both substrates which produce maximum production of biogas were identified. Besides, the initial and end characteristics of both substrates also were analyzed to identify the importance of the parameters in improving the biogas potential. Five digester were setup with different ratio of substrates (cattle manure and POME) for bio-methane potential (BMP) test. The outcome of this test reported that D3 consists of 70% cattle manure and 30% POME produced the highest amount of gas among other digesters. The SCOD and VSS removal in this digesters were approximately 6480 mg/L and 16648 mg/L. The effect of SCOD and VSS reduction also increased the methane content in the biogas obtained from D3 where the percentage of methane production was 77.95324%. Therefore, this research concludes that co-digestion method can be a new approach towards the advancement in biogas generation.
