Summary: | The usage of superconductors in the technological industry that we are currently living in undoubtedly has a major impact of the advancement we have achieved. Thus, enhancements on various characteristics of the superconductor, especially Bi-based superconductors provide endless trails of advancements of the current implementations and limitations of superconductor applications in many areas of research and industries. This research was a noble attempt in pursue to explore the effects of thermal neutron irradiation upon the Bi-2223 superconductor. It has explored the effects of 6 hours of treatment to thermal neutron irradiation upon the morphological, electrical and structural changes, enhancements and responses that applies to the Bi-2223 superconductor type. The superconductor sample was prepared through co-precipitation method and pressed into pellet forms. The analysis method that was implied to obtain the results data were from the XRD testing and SEM imaging for the phase formation analysis, structural and morphological analysis, whereas the 4-point probe was used to identify the Jc, current density data. The finding of this research was compared in terms of pure un-irradiated and irradiate sample in terms of morphological, structural and electrical properties. It was deduced that the morphological structure of irradiated sample is much more distorted than the pure sample, the current density of the irradiated sample is slightly higher that the pure sample and the critical temperature has rose from 102 k to 106 k. |
