Summary: | Badminton is an individual, non-contact sport requiring jumps, lunges, quick changes in direction and rapid arm movements from a wide variety of postural positions. Badminton involved a lot of quick movements and fast response. Badminton is a sport which requires the
players to have good footwork. Footwork is the most fundamental and critical skills in badminton competitions. Around 15% of the movement in badminton games is actually lunging. Research shows that most of the major injuries that badminton player could be facing with is at the lower extremity. The objective of this study is to use a low cost alternative for video based
motion analysis on badminton’s lunge maneuver, especially on finding the angle between thigh and calf and the velocity of the badminton player. Furthermore, the study was also conducted to determine the best lunge maneuver to return net shot successfully and effectively. Findings of this project will help badminton players to come out with a training system that will help to improve the badminton’s player performance. Furthermore, the study was also conducted to observe the angle between thigh and calf of the badminton player. The angle between thigh and
calf of the badminton player should not be less than 90˚ so that no excessive load will be acting to the knee. Thus, this research will provide good findings to improve badminton’s player performance and also for injury prevention. |
