Description
Summary:(alupphYl/um lanigenum, a species that has a great potential in medicinal application, belongs to the Guttiferae family. The present study involves the isolation of DNA from this species. Three types of leaves were taken from the C. /anig>erum tree, namely matured, young and shoot leaves. The DNA isolated still contains RNA. RNase treatment was used to eliminate this impurity. The DNA obtained was stored at 20"C and 80"C up to I month and was examined tinder UV spectrophotometer to determine its concentration. Both temperatures were suitable for storage of the DNA without degradation. Storage of the DNA at such temperature could facilitate the isolation of useful genes from the plant for biotechnological applications.
