Description
Summary:This study aims to discover the relationship between sleep quality and daytime sleepiness among university students. This study also aims to find out the differences of sleep quality and daytime sleepiness among university students. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) were used as instruments to collect the data. 100 students from two faculties at UNIMAS which are Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH) and Faculty of Medicine and Health Science (FMHS) participated as respondents. The respondents were chosen by using cluster random sampling. The findings show a positive relationship between sleep quality and daytime sleepiness (r = 0.21, n = 100, p = 0.03). This study also found that there is no significant difference of PSQI scores among FSSH (M = 1.86, SD = 0.35) and FMHS (M = 1.78, SD = 0.41) students; t (98) = 1.04, p = 0.30. Plus, this study found there is no significant difference of ESS score among FSSH (M = 2.42, SD = 1.16) and FMHS (M = 2.60, SD = 1.34) students; t (98) = -0.72, p = 0.48). The recommendation for future researched is by conducting the research in different population with different culture.
