Description
Summary:Radon-222 is naturally occurring radioactive gas where decay of Uranium-238 in soil, rock and groundwater. The harmful of radon can affect the human health and can cause lung cancer if expose to high level of radon concentration. Concern of this situations, this study to monitoring radon concentration at different level of altitude and to study correlation between Rn-222 concentration, temperature, humidity and pressure in indoor areas of the building. Radon concentration was measured indoor using Radon Sentinel Model 1030 device in academic building UMK Jeli Campus. Lecture Room (BK 4) in the first floor and Lecture Room (BK 8) in the third floor of academic building UMK Jeli Campus were selected as the study areas. The duration of measurement radon concentration was completed in fifteen days for each lecture room. The radon concentration in BK 4 was found to have range of average value from 0.36 pCi/L to 0.73 pCi/L for fifteen consecutive days. Whereas, the radon concentration in BK 8 was found to have range of average value from 0.40 pCi/L to 0.93 pCi/L for fifteen consecutive days. Besides, the radon concentration is higher at BK 8 with height 14.4 meter than BK 4 with height 4.8 meter from the ground. From the correlation between Rn-222 concentration with pressure, temperature and humidity at BK 4, shows the negative correlation. While, the correlation between Rn-222 concentration with pressure, and humidity at BK 8, shown the positive correlation and correlation between Rn-222 with temperature at the BK 8 is negative correlation.
