Description
Summary:The aim of this study was to formulate and characterize the nanoemulgel that containing Citrus hystrix essential oil. Formulation of nanoemulgel was done based on the ternary phase diagram from previous study that produced larger nanoemulsion region. The essential oil of C.hystrix was extracted by using steam distillation and analysed by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analyser to observe the functional group present such as aliphatic hydrocarbon and aliphatic aldehyde. The mean droplet size of nanoemulgel was confirmed by Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) analyser and showed that the mean droplet size of nanoemulgel containing C.hystrix essential oil was 158.12 nrn. The nanoemulgel was tested on vary of ways to observe its physical appearance and physical stability. Physical appearance of all nanoemulgel samples was transparent and translucent with yellowish colour, having citrus and tea tree oil odour characteristics, smooth textures and homogeneous. Viscosity testing showed that nanoemulgel containing C.hystrix has higher viscosity compared the other nanoemulgel. The stability was tested by using centrifugation and showed that all nanoemulgel was stable.
