Sustainable construction In this section will be told about the topics that will be implemented by the researcher. many things that will be implemented by the researcher will be discussed in this section. The topic chosen by the researcher was the perception of stakeholders on the implementation of the green building concept. this topic aroused the interest of researchers as it addresses the role of financial stakeholders as well as the definition of green construction. In this study will also tell about the role of green building criteria in order to provide more knowledge to readers. Green building rating system is a concept that emerges in the construction industry in the early 1990’s. According to Portalatin et al. (2010) the idea of green building rating system emerged in the United Kingdom known as British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) in 1990.This was followed by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in the United States. Green building rating system has been defined as voluntary mechanisms used to rate and certify the environmental performance of buildings (UN-HABITANT, 2010). It also provides benchmark against which a building is rated and also offers a score or descriptive rating for the building (Adegbile, 2013). The importance of green building assessment tools have been documented in various studies (Ali and Al Nsairat, 2009; UNHABITANT, 2010; Portalatin, et al. 2010; Adegbile, 2013) among others. In particular, Ali and Al Nsairat (2009) emphasized on the need of developing technical services and resources for determining the ‘greenness’ of a building based on appropriate green rating system thereby making green building practices easier to implement. It is thus important for project stakeholders to consider green building assessment as construction project moves through design and construction phase in order to prevent high energy consumption, solid waste generation, global greenhouse emission, environmental damage and resource depletion. 2021 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en https://ir.uitm.edu.my/id/eprint/66584/1/66584.pdf Stakeholders perception on the implementation of green building concepts / Muhammad Iqbal Abu Bakar.
