Summary: | Cooperative (ta’awun) behaviour between university and society enables disadvantaged societies due to environmental challenges to achieve sejahtera situations. Eight groups of students from UNGS 1201 Sustainable Development Section 37 under the instruction of Dr Suhaimi Mhd Sarif have formulated plans and strategies to transform selected disadvantaged communities in Malaysia to sejahtera society. UNGS 1201 Sustainable Development course is a fundamental university core course for all first year students. The primary intention of the course is to expose students about functional and practical knowledge about sustainability. With the knowledge, the students will get to the right attitudes, values, and skills in addressing sustainable development issues and related challenges encountered in a globalized world. More specifically, this course aims to demonstrate the importance of sustainable development’s principles and practices and will also include Islamic perspective on Sustainable Development. Through multiple case studies, students are expected to understand the challenges and barriers in integrating sustainable development at local, national and international. |
