GREEN AMMONIA AND UREA SYNTHESIS VIA MAGNETIC INDUCTION METHOD USING ALIGNED HEMATITE NANOWIRES

Summary: | The magnetic induction method has been proven to enable the production of
ammonia under ambient temperature and pressure. However, there is a lack of
fundamental understanding of the mechanism of magnetic induction to affect the
synthesis of ammonia. Therefore, both the effect of a nanocatalyst and the process
parameters on the ammonia yield was observed in this study. There are three objectives
in this project; the first is.to synthesize and characterize YIG and a-Fe203 nanocatalysts
for ammonia and urea production; the second is to synthesize ammonia at ambient
conditions via the magnetic induction method; and the third is to synthesize urea
directly from a mixture ofN2, H2, and C02 via the magnetic induction method using aFe203
nanowires. FESEM, XRD, EDX, raman spectroscopy, HRTEM, andFTIR were
utilized to characterize the nanocatalysts. |
