Description
Summary:The structural reliability assessment of offshore jacket platforms using non-linear pushover analysis in the past had shown that most ofthe platform failures occur due to the lack of strength in the pile foundation. When the failures of jacket platforms in extreme weather conditions were studied, it was observed that the foundation was intact while the platform failed. This disagreement between the simulation and the actual condition can be explained by the phenomenon ofAging of pile foundations. The axial aging ofpiles have been experimentally proved by earlier researchers and mathematical equations relating pile capacity and time after pile installation were formulated. One of such functions, namely Skov and Denver equation was utilised to study the borehole soil data from ten offshore Malaysian locations. The AAU method was employed alongside with this to find out the average setup factor for Mixed and Clayey soils in offshore Malaysia.
