It begins with the identification of the need to review and reform the land legislation in this country, and recommends its future direction in line with national expectations as well as to keep abreast with global changes.After the requisite literature review, the research goes on to conduct in-depth discussions with legal and property professionals including land developers.land surveyors, valuers, architects, project managers, bankers, land administrators,land managers and academicians.The research deals with both specific and general issues, on which views, suggestions and recommendations have been sought from a wide range of property professionals as expert respondents.Under specific issues, the study looked at, inter alia, the need to reclassify land, the re-categorising of land use, misconception and abuse of TOL, legal and economic aspects of security of tenure, idle land, improving the delivery system, sustainable development getting ready for e-conveyancing and the overall simplification of the Code to make it sustainable and implementable.The analysis of the answers obtained from selected respondents has been utilized using qualitative analysis and results shown in graphs, charts, histograms and narrative presentations.The main finding shows that there is a pressing urgency to reform the Code in order to maintain its relevance in meeting geospatial challenges in the 21st century. 2013 Conference or Workshop Item NonPeerReviewed Buang, Salleh and Omar, Ismail (2013) The review of National Land Code 1965 in Malaysia - Towards sustaining land development in Peninsular Malaysia.
