Description
Summary:The illicit drug trade and abuse has become a national problem invading societies in many countries in the world. Viewed from the aspects of entrance into drug rehabilitation centers and arrests made on drug related offences, the problems pertaining to drug abuse and addiction has attracted the attention of authorities everywhere and many national legislative bodies have taken steps by passing legislation in the aspects of drug treatment and rehabilitation in a bid to address this social illness. This work will be looking at the aspects of methods of treatment and rehabilitation of drug abusers or addicts. Treatment will include the efforts of treating the individual concern with the objectives of eliminating the addiction and followed by the counseling process. Methods of treatment and rehabilitation such as the substitution of methadone drug and rehabilitation process like counseling will also be included in the discussion. This work will include the discussion on the laws with regard to treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts in selected countries such as Thailand, Brunei, selected countries in the European Union and Australia comparatively to Malaysia.
