At present the construction industry stakeholders’ main priority inclined towards profit orientated activities and maybe the sustainable development practices were secondary and the public were not well informed of the stated matter. Even though Malaysia always in parallel with Agenda 21 and try to implement the sustainable development practices guidelines, but unfortunately the issue of awareness remains a mystery. So, this study is an effort towards investigating the level of awareness on sustainable development practices among developers, financial institutions and public in Malaysia. Klang Valley, Iskandar Region and Penang were justified as the place of study. The variables on awareness among public such as knowledge, perception, comfort, realization and appreciation tested against the sustainable development practices. The objectives of the study are ‘to assess the level of awareness on sustainable development practices among developers, financial institutions and public in Malaysia; ‘to analyse the level of awareness on sustainable development practices among developers, financial institutions and public in Malaysia; and finally, ‘to design the measures to be taken to encourage the level of awareness on sustainable development practices among developers, financial institutions and public in Malaysia. This study adopted quantitative and qualitative method, utilised survey technique to collect data using convenience sampling from 423 respondents (quantitative) 12 respondents (qualitative). Pearson correlations were used in analysing the data to answer all the objectives. In general, the findings showed that the score for knowledge, perception, comfort, realization and appreciation has a positive relationship with sustainable development practices are excellent with an average value between 4.02 and 4.26. The results of Pearson correlation analysis show the benefits of the urban green space is also significant at level p≤0.01 and r = 0.086. This means that respondents’ awareness against sustainable development practices are fairly good. Therefore, this study suggests that a comprehensive channels should be established, whether formally or informally to ensure the role of various parties can be increased more effectively in ensure sustainable development practices developers, financial institutions and community in Malaysia enhance appropriately.
