Summary:The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between demographics and the academic performance, to identify the relationship between smartphone usage and academic performance and to identify the relationship between level of internet addiction and academic performance. A total of 169 student were selected randomly from PMR, SPM and STPM students in high school at Changlun. The statistical technique such as frequency and percentage were used to identify the patterns of internet usage and independent sample t-test and one way ANOVA were used to examine the differences in internet addiction in terms of demographic factors. Correlation technique was employed to determine the relationship between smartphone, level of internet addiction and academic performance. The results of the study also showed that there were significant differences in internet addiction and academic performance. This suggests that future research need to work on large sample including various age and different high school.
