Currently, Malaysia is facing urban solid waste management issues such as available landfill space decreases and the cost of building new landfills increases. These circumstances happened due to growing amount of solid waste generated in Malaysia. Waste recycling is one of the approaches adopted by Malaysian Government for solid waste management. The objectives of the research are to identify the role of recycling companies in reverse logistics towards the green environment and to identify the critical factors for recycling operations. In this research, interviews method and direct observation method are used for data collection. The result of the research shows that these recycle companies collect recycle wastes such as metal and plastics from an end user and resell it to the manufacturing company. For a recycle company to runs its operation successfully, it must have a large land area, sufficient workforce and suitable transport, equipment and machinery. As a conclusion, waste recovery in Malaysia has good potential because it will create alternative resources and minimize the negative impact of solid waste on the environmental and human health. 2018 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed Tee, Lian Yong (2018) The role of recycle companies in reverse logistics towards green environment.
