Summary:Company XYZ is a well-known brand of packed food products. It was first established in 1984 and expanding rapidly in the local and foreign market. It headquarters work at the main production facilities and warehouse that supplies 17 distributors located all over the county. These distributors are the company subsidiaries that in charge of assuring XYZ products be readily available at the right time, right place, right quantities and right conditions for the end users. Despite of its remarkable market acceptance and impressive expansion, XYZ Sabah distribution however have minimum investment in technology. Porter and Millar (1985) argued that the correct implementation of IT can be a significant source of competitive advantages to a firm in its marketplace. By providing digital options (Sambamurthy et al., 2003) and electronic integration (Nazir & Pinsonneault, 2012), information technology are says to improve decision making and communication (Davenport, Harris, & Cantrell, 2004). Hence objective of this study is to explore the current practice of work flow done by departments in XYZ Sabah Distributor that may need information technology adoption in its operation. Observation and interviews were used to gain information on departments that are not using any IT or automation system. The departments include sales, merchandise and marketing, store and delivery. Observation and interview focus on the actual practice of personnel involve in the work process. Interview also enquire the personnel about their personal opinion on their routine and if there are any suggestion for improvement. Four of five departments that include sales, merchandise and marketing, store and delivery did not adopt any information technology or automation. These departments have interrelated task that information technology may be adopted for better improve efficiency in its operation.
