Summary:How universities can better contribute to the process of innovation has become an important issues in the evolution of the role of the institutions of the higher education in general and Universiti Utara Malaysia in particular.Therefore, this issue has prompted researcher to revisit is scenario among academic researchers Universiti Utara Malaysia,especially those involved in the field of information technology related.In the first phase a renew of documents has been used to asses the environmental research related to imformation technology in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).The second phase aims to identify the perceptions of academic researchers involved in research related to information technology on their research commercialization activities using questionnaires .Based on questionnaires data, factor analysis was performed to classify variables commercialization activities to descriptive components.Next one-way ANOVA test was performed to distinguish commercialization activities based on demographic background.The finding of the document review concludes that the environment-related research in information technology Universiti Utara Malaysia is quite conductive to academic researchers.From the questionnaire, it is clear that academic researchers consider their research commercialization activities are focused on publishing activities.Based on factor analysis, research commercialization activities related to information technology have found two classes; committee and network building (CNB) and technology transfer (TT).Anova findings indicate demographic background affect academic researchers involved in the commercialization of biotechnology-related research.This study successfully achieve the objective outline and the result of the study are expected to be input to the Centre for Research and Innovation (RIMC)UUM in order to develop strategies to improve the commercialization of research results in particular from the researches who conduct research related to information technology to achieved research university status.
