Summary:This paper offers knowledge in respect to sustainable development, illustrated within the scope of cooperative studies.The paper is primarily aimed to provide insightful understanding to academician and practitioners towards sustainability development of the largest cooperative corporation in Malaysia, namely Bank Rakyat (BR).Specifically, the objective of the paper is to investigate sustainability initiatives from the perspective of process theory in one of the largest co-op banks in Malaysia.The result of the study found that the initiatives were more on economic and social, and minimal on the environment agenda.The authors conclude that there is still work to be done because BR is a leading cooperative bank in Malaysia and have the state interest, so it will give an impacts to the Malaysian economy.Overall, the authors asserts the importance of creating multiple strategies, re-branding of sustainable project, financial sustainability and philosophical, as initiatives towards sustainability development, with particular emphasis placed on articulating and addressing inclusive sustaining initiatives through constructive initiatives.
