This research will evaluate the health services and facilities in towns and in rural areas under the British Colonial Administration in Pulau Pinang. The focus of this research will be on Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Malaria.In addition, an in depth study on the prevention and treatment methods by the Penang Health Department, Christian Churches and other non-profit organisations such as the British Red Cross Society of Malaya (Penang and Province Wellesley Branch) and the Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis (Penang and Province Wellesley Branch) in providing health services and managing infectious diseases will be studied. For prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis and Leprosy, quarantine centres being built e.g. the Lepers camp in Pulau Jerejak and Pulau Jerajak ward for advanced TB.
