As the other states in Malaya, Kedah was not missed to be the target of the Malayan Communist Party in their terrorist actions. More than that Kedah even was among the pioneer states to be the victim of the CPM subversive activities in the emergency period.On the goverment’s side plan and actions were taken to oppose the CPM in many ways. The terrorist started killing the security forces and also made the Europeans planters as their target.The goverment had carried out the defence plan by straightened on military and also to the social of the people in Malaya.The effect can be divided into two, the safety of the public and also the problems that came along with the planning.The problems that faced by the people had worsened the life of people in Kedah which were poor peasants.The most fear was they became the target for the CPM to get the information, supports and to be the agents to supply their necessities.The history shown that they were trapped between the goverment’s planning to counter the CPM activities and the enemy’s (CPM) action againsts the goverment.The problems were not been vocaled out because the lack of medias and also gaps in the social system 50 years ago. More than that they had also been converted to be a part of defence element againsts the CPM.The motive of this paper is to highlight and retro the problem and troubles that the people of Kedah faced in the long 12 years of the CPM terrorism.
