Summary:The purpose of this survey is to examine work stress among secondary school teachers by looking at the levels of stress, causes of stress based on demography factors (sex, marital status, age, duration of service, academic qualification and school location i.e. town and rural) This survey was carried out using a sample of 235 respondents from 8 schools in the district of Kuala Kangsar. A total of 265 sets of questionnaire forms were distributed by the researcher himself to the respondents. However, only 235 responded. The questionnaire consists of 48 items using Likert Five Scale. The data collected was analysed using the descriptive statistic method and inferential statistic. 12 major hypothesis were formulated, tested using the t-test, Variant Scale Analysis (ANOVA), Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results reveal that there is no significant difference between work stress faced by teachers and demography factors such as sex, marital status, age, duration of service, academic qualification and the location of school. Nevertheless, there is a significant relationship between stress and the causes stress where by the main cause is scheme of service.
