After the death of Rasulullah S.A.W., Muslims are divided into several sects. In Malaysia, the main stream of thought has always been Sunni. However, the faith of the Imamiyyah Shi'a has slowly been gaining its momentum and has now an increasing number of followers in Malaysia. Deviant Islamic thinking such as Liberalism and Secularism also exacerbate the situation. In addition, the views of Islamic scholars in reconciling Shiites and Sunnis are seen as confusing to society. Shi'a teachings seem to have the support of the professionals and influential people and they are seen as trying to defend the Shiites in Malaysia. As a result, people who lack knowledge are easily confused. National security is also threatened by the risk of inter-faith strife. Thus, this study aims to identify the concept of Pillars of Islam (Rukun Islam) and Pillars of Faith (Rukun Iman) according to Imamiyyah Shi'a and Sunni, analyse the differences in the concepts of Pillars of Islam and Pillars of Faith according to both thoughts, and summarise the forms of deviation of Imamiyyah Shi'a against the Pillars of Islam and Pillars of Faith. The researcher used qualitative research design for data collection which employed the explanatory methods. The method of data collection was done via library research and interviews. The library research involved Shiite and Sunni books, theses, journals, papers, books and others. Later, interviews were conducted with 3 Imamiyyah Shiites and one Sunni representative. They were individuals who were knowledgeable about their beliefs. Content analysis method was used for the data analysis. The results of this study showed that there were differences and deviations in the Pillars of Islam and the Pillars of Faith that have been permeated by the teaching of Imamiyyah Shi'a in terms of the number of pillars, their implementation procedures, as well as the understanding. Therefore, this study can be seen so as to give a broader picture of the issue to the community and the government, and at the same time, all parties should be concerned in addressing the problem from various levels. This is to ensure and protect the safety of the faith of Muslims in Malaysia.
