Description
Summary:This study sought to identify the principals leadership services and behaviour in the aspects of planning, evaluation and organizational culture and their relationship to job satisfaction. This study is based on Behaviourism Leadership using Two Dimension Leadership Theory and Locker's Job Satisfaction Theory (1969). The research data was gathered from 15 principals and 19 headmasters in the District of Kuala Kangsar, Perak Darul Ridzuan by means of a set of questionnaire which consisted of 4 parts: Demographic item, leadership services adapted and adjusted from Malaysian Educative Leadership Questionnaire by Institut Aminuddin Baki, leadership behaviour questionnaire (LBDQ: Hemphil and Coons, 1957) from the translation by Prof. Madya Dr. Rahimah (1981) and job satisfaction questionnaire which was adapted and adjusted from Minessota Satisfaction Questionnaire. The inferential statistical techniques used was the Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient. The findings of the study showed that respondents had a high perception on leadership services in the aspects of planning, evaluation and culture. Correlation analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between overall job satisfaction and leadership behaviour. An extrinsically satisfying job was found to be the best predictor of job satisfaction. Respondent also perceptualised co-worker as the most important contribution. The implication from the finding, was that the respondents leadership behaviour is more on humanistic approach. It is recommended that further research should be conducted by using empowerment, commitment and communication system as other variables in the leadership theory to substantiate the existing finding on leadership phenomena in school.
