Description
Summary:As a pioneer government hospital, Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) has become a reference center for other government and private hospitals in Malaysia. HKL should be more concerned on the competition in domestic market and the globalization that offers the latest, fast, quality and accurate technology. The problem of frequent discontinuation of drug supply can retard the growth and reputation of a hospital. Hence, HKL should be more sensitive and incorporate the latest technology development to enhance the quality of inventory management. The research shows that conventional inventory management system may be less costly, but it leads to the frequent discontinuation of drug supply. This would definitely affect the reputation of HKL especially the management department of pharmacy. Besides, in a long run managing cost would be increased due to repetitive ordering and problem solving following the discontinuation of drug supply. Hence, the researcher suggest to apply the scientific management models into current inventory management system. This would ensure the continuation of drug supply, the quality and the reputation of HKL inventory management. Whereas in a long run, it would be more economic.
