Summary:The purpose of this study is to examine and gain a better understanding of the drivers that influence the occupational stress among academic staff at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). 129 academic staff of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) were participated in this study. Data were gathered through questionnaire analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 1.7 Version. Throughout the statistical analysis – correlation analysis, it is found that there is a significant relationship between these two independent variables namely as emotional exhaustion and self-monitoring skills with the dependent variable – occupational stress. Among these two independent variables, self-monitoring skills is having a high impact drivers influencing the occupational stress among academic staff at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). Based on these findings, recommendations and suggestions were made to Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).
