Having got an open minded internal attitude, self directed learning process will be achievable. Previous researches in regard to motivation concentrated more on student’s motivation at school. Thus, this article discussed on relationship between motivation and self directed learning. The instrument used to measure the motivation factor is Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) while Self Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS) was used to measure self directed learning. The study undertaken by researcher was done among government officers from management and professional group in Ministry of Education. About 258 officers were selected for this research purpose. The study showed that there are significant correlation between motivation’s dimension like intrinsic value, self efficacy, modeling and benchmarking and self directed learning.
