Summary:The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between leadership styles of the director and motivation level of the subordinate in Valuation Department, Terengganu. The dimensions of leader style studied are controlling, supportive, participative and success orientation. The study covered the difference motivation level of subordinate based on the leadership style of their director. The study was also to find out if there were any differences in motivation level based on the demographic characteristics of subordinates i.e gender, categories of age, level of education and experience. The leader Behavior Description Questionnaire was used as an instrument to measure the leadership style of the director while A Questionnaire Measure the level of motivation of the subordinate. A total of 41 subordinates were chosen by using simple random sampling. The findings of this study shows that there is a significant relationship between leadership styles of a director and the motivation levels of subordinates. The result also shows that success orientation of leadership styles has a significant positive relationship with the level of motivation of subordinates. This study shows that there are a significant differences in the motivation level of subordinates based on the leadership styles oof a director. The findings also show that there are no significant differences betwen levels of motivation of subordinates based on their demographic characteristics.
