Petroleum Sludge Stabilization and Solidification by Ordinary Portland Cement

Stabilization and solidification of petroleum sludge with ordinary Portland cement binder data is presented. The performance parameters investigated are unconfined compressive strength and leachability of solidified waste. The sludge and binder characterization was conducted to investigate it chemi...

The performance parameters investigated are unconfined compressive strength and leachability of solidified waste. The sludge and binder characterization was conducted to investigate it chemical, physical and microstructure properties. Organic and inorganic component of the sludge are also quantified. Metals presence in OPC sludge with RHA as replacement material increases the UCS of solidified material by 25 % in comparison to the control value. All of the metals added are undetected in TCLP test of OPC sludge. RHA also contribute to lower leachability of aluminum found in petroleum sludge. 2010-06-15 Conference or Workshop Item NonPeerReviewed Mohd Zain, Asna and Shaaban, Md Ghazaly and Mahmud, Hilmi (2010) Petroleum Sludge Stabilization and Solidification by Ordinary Portland Cement.
