Summary:To provide an electrode and a secondary nonaqueous electrolyte battery by using an electrode active material in which cycle property is improved. SOLUTION: Phosphoric acid vanadyl compound obtained by firing VO (HPO4 ).0.5H2 O at a temperature not lower than 450 deg.C but not higher than 550 deg.C in an atmosphere not less than 5% but not larger than 30% in oxygen concentration is used as the electrode active material for the secondary nonaqueous battery.
