BUILDING ROOFING SHEETS SYSTEMS FOR DIFFERENT WIND ZONES IN MALAYSIA

Roofing sheets of buildings have been observed to fail under extreme wind conditions as in a wind storm. This paper presents the analysis of wind loads and pressure capacities (based on results of static test on different steel roofing sheet systems used in Malaysia using AS 1562.1-1992 available as...

Civil engineering (General) Roofing sheets of buildings have been observed to fail under extreme wind conditions as in a wind storm. This paper presents the analysis of wind loads and pressure capacities (based on results of static test on different steel roofing sheet systems used in Malaysia using AS 1562.1-1992 available as the limit state wind pressure capacities in technical brochures. The values are compared with design wind pressures for critical and interior regions of the roof for different wind zones and different conditions of importance factor, terrain/ height, pressure coefficient and local pressure factor. The suitability of different roofing sheet systems for different wind zones is assessed. It was concluded that the subtle square fluted profile is more economical compared to other profiles with same thickness. 2013-12-12 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed application/pdf http://eprints.utp.edu.my/10814/1/Narayanan_icmcs_paper_revised.pdf Sambu Potty, Narayanan and Seavhai, Kang (2013) BUILDING ROOFING SHEETS SYSTEMS FOR DIFFERENT WIND ZONES IN MALAYSIA.
