Description
Summary:Safety is one of the important element to ensure the resident’s well-being. Housing safety refers to the state of individual protection in term of reducing risk, damage or accident, with well prepared public facilities, and good neighbourhoods that enhance the quality of life. However, the safety of residential areas is often affected by criminal issues involving personal and property security and the damage to facilities provided. The purpose of this study was to identify the level of security in the area of individual security, property security and building structure among affordable housing residents in Subang Suria Apartments in Petaling District in Selangor. Quantitative study design and descriptive survey approach using a questionnaire instrument were used in this study to get feedback from respondents. The collected data were analyzed with IBM SPSS Software version 23.0. Descriptive statistics of frequency, percentage and mean were used to explain the response profile and answer the research questions. A total of N = 286 respondents comprising the residents of the Subang Solar Apartments were randomly selected. The findings of the study found that the level of safety was high and high risk and threatened. The overall mean for all three aspects of security is individual security (min = 3.24), property (min = 3.18) and building infrastructure (min = 2.87). This study hopes to guide on upgrading the security system in the RMM housing area and delving into existing security plans and strategies in the area.
