Miniaturisation of ring shape element frequency selective surface for X-band shielding
A novel miniaturized ring loop (MRL) frequency selective surface (FSS) for X-band signals shielding is presented in this paper. The size of the FSS unit cell is reduced by 17.44% or 0.113λ as compare to the conventional ring shape element. The proposed MRL is designed on 1.6mm Fire-Retardant 4 (FR-4...

Summary: | A novel miniaturized ring loop (MRL) frequency selective surface (FSS) for X-band signals shielding is presented in this paper. The size of the FSS unit cell is reduced by 17.44% or 0.113λ as compare to the conventional ring shape element. The proposed MRL is designed on 1.6mm Fire-Retardant 4 (FR-4) substrate to provide attenuation at 10 GHz. The simulated results indicating that the proposed MRL FSS exhibits a 37 dB of signal attenuation at 10 GHz at normal and oblique angle up to 45° for both horizontal polarized (TE) and vertical polarized (TM) electric field. The proposed FSS is then fabricated and validated experimentally. The measured results have a good agreement with simulated results. The proposed FSS can be utilized in applications with limited spaced to shield the X-band signals. |
