Summary:This study aims to examine the use of social networking sites Facebook among teachers in a district of Pontian. The objectives of this study are designed to identify the motives of Facebook use among teachers, the impact of the use of Facebook among teachers, determine the difference factor of the use of Facebook by teachers based on gender, determine the difference in the effect of the use of Facebook by teachers based on gender, identify hindrance faced by teachers in the use of Facebook for teaching and learning. Questionnaire is used as the instrument for this study. All data were analyzed using the Statistical Package For Social Science Version 16.0. Data were analyzed descriptively to see the percentage and the mean level of variables and inference involving the t-test. From the mean analysis shows that the motives and effects of the use of social networking sites for integration and social interaction is high with a mean value of each is 4.27and 4:38. The T-test showed that there were no significant differences between the motives and impact of Facebook by gender with their significant value of p = 0.250dan p = 0.402. Finally, the main hindrance in the use of Facebook for teaching and learning is that students are not using social media for learning but just to socialize with a mean value of 4.66.
