Description
Summary:The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between factors of work stress with effects of stress and job performance among secondary teachers in the district of Kota Tinggi, Johor. There are five objectives examined in this study, i.e. identifying the main factors of work stress, identifying the main effect work stress of the teacher, investigating the level of teacher’s job perfomance level, examining the relationship between work stress factors and the effects of stress, and examining the relationship between work stress factors with job performance. The independent variable involves the work stress factors, while the effect of stress and job performance were used as dependent variable. The data were gathered from a survey consisted of a total of 226 teachers from seven schools that have classes for form sixth level and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The descriptive data analysis was performed (mean, frequency and percentage) and inferential analysis (Pearson correlation test). The finding shows that the main factors teachers’ stress is student misbehaviour, followed by workload, the scarcity of time and resources as well as interpesonal relations. Besides that, this study also indicated that the main effect of teachers’ stress is psychological effect in comparison to the effects of physical and behavioral problems on teachers. Pearson correlation analysis found that there was a moderate and significant correlation between stress factors and the effects of stress. Moreover, the results also showed that there is a weak and negative relationship between job stress factors and job performance. Furthermore, the findings also showed the teacher able achieve high perfomance level even though they feel depressed. At the end of the study, the recommendations for the future research are proposed.
