Description
Summary:In this paper, a method for speed estimation of faulty three-phase induction motor (three-phase induction motor under stator winding open-phase fault) based on Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) is presented. The proposed method can be used for both healthy and faulty induction motors. In this method during normal condition the conventional MRAS is used to estimate motor speed. However, during the fault condition the conventional MRAS is switched to the novel algorithm based MRAS. This novel algorithm is designed based on the model of three-phase induction motor under open-phase fault. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed technique. This paper also compares the performance of conventional and proposed MRAS during open-phase fault.
