Description
Summary:This paper concerns the effect of interlocking mechanism on bond strength of splice sleeves located in the elastic and inelastic segment of splice sleeve. Out of the total of ten beams studied, eight beams were tested using the proposed splice sleeve in the splice region and two ones using continuous reinforcement as control specimens. The connectors in splice region were categorized in four batches with variations in sleeve length, bolts location, and number of bolts. It was found that providing interlocking mechanism in the elastic segment of sleeve decreases the bond strength of splice sleeve and load carrying capacity of beams.
