Mean shift for direction finding and separation of sound sources using microphone array

This paper proposes a mean shill based blind source separation method combining with source direction estimation using time-frequency (T-F) decomposition. Description
Summary:This paper proposes a mean shill based blind source separation method combining with source direction estimation using time-frequency (T-F) decomposition. Basic cue of each T-F cell is the wave propagation vector and the proposed method is applicable to arbitrary array configuration in 3-D space. Mean shift is applied to search multiple modes of the estimated probability density with respect to both elevation and azimuth angles. Utilizing the results an efficient separation procedure can be realized by a binary masking in T-F domain.
