It is important to understand the influences of computer tools toward cognitive activities in ideation process. Industrial Design students were selected to participate in two experiment sessions, which are the manual hand sketch and the computer generated sketch using Adobe Photoshop. Sketches generated were collected and analysed using Torrance Cognitive Elements of Design Creativity and Visual Reasoning Model. Torrance Cognitive Elements of Design Creativity method is chosen to evaluate the diversifying of ideas; whereas Visual Reasoning Model is used to examine iterative movement of transformation and generations of ideas. Results from both methods of analysis are presented in this paper. 2015 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed Othman, Abdul Muta'Ali and Liew, Yong Kian (2015) Computer tools and thinking pattern in ideation process.
