Description
Summary:The present study investigates the behaviour of blood ow through a stenosed bifurcated artery. The geometry of the bifucated artery in the presence of a single mild stenosis in the parent artery is considered symmetrical [1]. The ow dynamics is defined arcording to the incompressible, un- steady Navier-Stokes equations for non-Nev"tonian uids. Numerical simulation based on finite element method is carried out using COMSOL Multiphysics. The numerical simulation results show that the ow characteristic of blood such as the axial velocity is significantly affected by Reynolds number. Analysis of the streamlines patterns for stenosed bifurcated artery for different Reynolds number exhibit ow recirculation zone near the stenotic wall upstream and the daughter artery.
