Summary:This study aims to compare assessments of lecturers and teacher advisors on trainee teacher’s competency. This study involved76 lecturers of Education Faculty, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and 236 teacher advisors who supervised trainee teachers undergoing Teaching Practice programme for the 2010/2011 session in the state of Johor. The instrument used was the federal supervisor assessment score form. Data were analysed to find mean and to conduct t-test. Item reliability value was 0.910. Findings showed there was a significant difference (p=0.000) in assessment between lecturers and teacher advisors in aspects of teaching preparation, delivery of teaching, personality and professionalism. Besides that, there was a significant difference (p=0.027) in lecturers’ assessment between trainee teachers from Mathematics and Science Department (MSD) and trainee teachers from Social Education Department (SED), between trainee teachers from Mathematics and Science Department and trainee teachers from Technical Education and Engineering Department (TEED) with a value of p=0.030. Lastly, there was also a significant difference in the assessment of teacher advisors between trainee teachers from MSD and TEED (p value=0.000) and between trainee teachers from SED and TEED with p value=0.026.
